Curriculum Activity Risk Assessment
Kinchant OEC is committed to Empowering Students, Through Authentic Experiences. On camp your student/s may choose to take on the challenge in one or more higher risk activities that have been programmed into their camp experience. These activities teach safe practices and are designed to promote a personal development through challenge by choice.
It is our responsibility under duty of care to inform you that High Risk Activities are to take place during the camp. Visiting Schools' have a responsibility to be aware of the associated inherent risk of the activities that their students will undertake. High Risk Activities at the centre are led by our teachers whom are experienced in the activity and hold the required activity specific qualifications.
KOEC has developed the following Risk Assessments and Safe Practice Guide's:
- For Visiting Schools in meeting their excursion planning requirements
- For parents/guardians of visiting students' awareness and ability to provide informed consent.
High Risk Activities:
- High challenge: Giant Swing, High Ropes, Team Tower, Possum Glider, All aboard, Leap of faith.
- Aquatic / Paddle craft: Canoeing, Paddle boarding, rafted canoeing, rafting, swimming (with lifejackets).
- Climbing wall: Abseiling, Climbing
- Archery: Archery
